Finster,I wasn't so much blaming MTV for the state of music at any particular time, simply pointing out that in relation to it's growth the quality of music seemed to be in decline, and in some instances it was directly related to MTV's influences.I found that I enjoyed disco and punk music in the same proportion as most music,a small percentage was good to excellent the rest a varying degree of average to awful.I can't think of any positive impact MTV had on music.Thirty years of mindless horseshit.

I really liked Headbanger's Ball back in the day. Although around the time it started out douchebag Adam Curry was dressing up in crappy leather and chains pretending he was a metal head. At least Riki Rachtman had knowledge of the hard core bands, and it didn't hurt that he looked like that guy who always hung with the band, but wasn't actually IN the band.

Now it's all just Empty-V.

That's cool. Sometimes mindless (and fun) is exactly what I want from music. But, I do see where you are coming from.
I just think that MTV was a product of the times, not a cause of them. Chicken or egg??

All good points Finster,as for someone's musical tastes, far be it from me to have an opinion on what they should like.
